Here's the Dirt
Princeville Garden Club
|
HERE'S THE DIRT By Anne Abbey
May 7, 2013
The May meeting of the Princeville Garden Club began at 6:00 p.m. in the greenhouse of the Picket Fence in Chillicothe . Stephanie and her sister presented numerous new and old plant varieties along with some tropicals. A list will follow at the end of these minutes.
Our hostesses for the evening were Joann Cunningham and Diane Ingle. It's fun to nibble on refreshments and look at plants and flowers!
TREASURER'S REPORT - Cathie Maguire reported expenses of $67.21 for several door prizes.
OLD BUSINESS - Our Plant Sale which will be held May 18 from 8:00 - 12 noon in Stephens Park was discussed and final arrangements made in order to make it a success. You should have your plants to the park no later than 7:45 so they may be placed ready for sale.
On May 13 at 6:00 p.m. we will be cleaning up the park. (They seem to be in pretty good shape, just some beautification.) That was before the warm weather and the weeds started showing their ugly heads!!
NEW BUSINESS - Members were reminded that dues are due in June for the 2013-2014 year. It was also brought to the attention of everyone that June is officer election time and some new faces would be welcomed. No position is overly taxing. The question was also asked, "Do we still wish to continue the Club?" The response was affirmative, so some new faces would be welcome.
MISCELLANEOUS - It was mentioned that Wineinger & Sons, Inc. (Nathan Wineinger) had mulch for sale at $26/yd for double shredded and $35/yd for brown dyed. Delivery is available.
DOOR PRIZE - Our door prize of a gift certificate from Picket Fence was won by Marjorie DuBois. Made her shopping more fun!
JUNE MEETING - The June meeting will be held June 6, 2013 at 6:30 in Judy Sutherland's garden located at 1018 Larson Lane .
The hostesses will be Jurretta Huffman and Mary Arnold.
Guests are always welcome.
