To Village of Princeville Residents: There was a repair done to the storage tank behind the water treatment plant.  Because of this repair, the reverse osmosis system had to be shut down.  You are using untreated water.   It is completely safe to drink and use.   The reverse osmosis system should be in use again in a day or two. You should notice a change. TEMPORARY LANE CLOSURE! The east lane of Cottage Grove Ave.  (near the intersection of Cottage Grove & Spring St. in Princeville) will be closed for road repair beginning Friday, November 7  and is to be completed sometime on Monday, November 10.    For questions, call Village Hall at 385-4765.

Street Sweeper Days in Princeville

Village of Princeville Residents   Starting today, the street sweeper will run on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday through the fall season or until the leaves are not an issue.    The street sweeper will run those days rain or shine.   Per the Superintendent of Public Works, village residents  can rake their leaves into the street on any day of the week.   Also remember there is an ordinance against burning in the street.  Fines can be imposed. Princeville Civic Association 12/04/2012 Scheduled Events Community Events Community Meetings Electronics Recycling Become a Fan of the Village of Princeville on Facebook     Submit your meeting or event information              The Princeville Holiday Homecoming Celebration   on Saturday, December 1st was a great success.    The Santa Breakfast was well attended and   Main Street was busy in the late afternoon with shoppers and community members enjoying treats from the participating businesses.    The PCA wishes to thank everyone that opened their doors on Saturday and welcomed the community in.  Thanks to everyone that attended the Santa Breakfast.  Thank you very much to the Princeville Lions Club, The Akron Princeville Fire Department,   Casey's General Store, PHS Chamber Singers and the Princeville After Prom for helping to make   the Santa Breakfast a great success!   Thank you to the vendors that set up at the Vendor Fair that afternoon.  Thank you also to the community members that came out to the APFD Firehouse   to check the Vendor Fair out. Last years winner was Ann Cordis.   We are pleased to announce this years recipient of the Finch Stowell Volunteer of the Year Award is Kelly Jenkins. Holiday Homecoming Celebration, Saturday December 1st

Princeville Holiday Homecoming Celebration!  This Saturday  December 1st List of Events: Gingerbread House Contest EB Buildings & Lumber Co. is the host this year for the Gingerbread House Contest.  Prizes will be awarded in three categories:  Adult, 12-18, and 12 and under.  The prize for each category is a $10 gift card to EB Buildings & Lumber Co. There will also be a People's Choice Award given. To enter the contest you can pick up a form at EB Buildings & Lumber Co. or the Village Hall. Entries must be dropped off Friday, November 30 before 4pm.   Seneca Foods Pumpkin Baking Contest There will be a Pumpkin Baking Contest.  There are three categories:  Pumpkin Pie, Desserts & Other Pumpkin Foods and two age groups:  Adults and Junior (12 & under).  1st Place in each category will win $50 and 2nd place will win $25 provided by Seneca Foods.   Entry forms and a can of pumpkin from Seneca Foods will be available at the Village Hall.  Entries will be judged on taste and presentation.  Judging will be Friday, November 30.   Only one category per person.   No Seneca Food Employees will be able to participate.  Christmas Wish Tree The Wish Tree is at the Village Hall.  This "tree" will have children's names (by number only) on it that could use some help with a Christmas gift this holiday season. Please come by and pick off an ornament and help someone in our community to have a brighter Christmas. Also, you may come to the Village Hall (there is a drop box in door) and register your child's name to be placed on  the Wish Tree. When doing so, please leave the name/names & ages,  address/phone number and sizes for clothes & types of toys. Evans Library November Events      November at LME Library Our Red Scarf Project has been doing quite well.  So far we have collected around 47 handmade scarves.  These scarves will be distributed by Foster Care 2 Success in February 2013.  Guidelines are available on the LME Library website http://lmelibrary.org and scarves will be collected through December 1st.  If you don't know how to crochet but are willing to learn, there are 2 programs scheduled in November to help you master the art of single and double crochet.  Please join us on November 7 and Nov 14 and bring a "size H" crochet hook.  We will have work sessions from 2:30-3:30pm or 5-6pm both days, and we have yarn available to get you started.  If you already know how to crochet and want to help, you can join us too!      Our Friends of the Library group now has a booksale corner in the library.  A selection of fiction, non-fiction, children's, and non-print materials are available every day.  Everything is a free-will donation so no prices are marked.  Over the years, the Friends have supported the library by donating materials, furniture, equipment, and funds for children's programs. Books and materials can be donated all year long. November is National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, the world's largest writing event.  Participants pledge to write 50,000 words in a month, starting from scratch and reaching "The End" by November 30th.  So how can you participate?  Go to http://nanowrimo.org/ to register and for more information.  Peoria NaNoWriMo participants can also find local events and community members at http://nanowrimo.org/en/regions/usa-illinois-peoria.  NaNoWriMo is a great time to start that novel you've always meant to write!  Beth Duttlinger Lillie M. Evans Library District     Princeville Garden Club  HERE'S THE DIRT       By Anne Abbey November 1, 2012    The Princeville Garden Club meeting was held at 6:30 p.m. at Green View Nursery where we were met by Ashley Simper and Franklin Susen in a covered outdoor area (chilly) which had been decorated with twinkle lights and made festive for the group.  Ashley brought coffee as a warmer upper! Franklin provided the demonstration on how to construct a holiday porch pot using various species of pine, arborvitae, boxwood, red twig dogwood, birch twigs and "Winter King" hawthorn berries.  All members who wished to make a Holiday Porch Pot were then provided with a pot, clippers and greens to create their own masterpieces.  I do believe a chilly, but good time was had by all.  A handout was also provided with additional idea suggestions.  Franklin gave the pot he created as a door prize to Anne Abbey. Our hostess and host for the evening, Janet Rasmussen and Kenny Hohenberry provided cider, various cookies, and candy as treats. TREASURER'S REPORT - Treasurer, Cathie Maguire reported deposits of $30.00 and no expenses. NEW BUSINESS - The subject of donating to food pantries or food baskets was put before the group.  After some discussion a motion was made by Janet Rasmussen and seconded by Anne Abbey to donate $100 to the Wyoming Christmas Baskets and $100 to the Heart of Prince holiday baskets. DOOR PRIZE - Our door prize of a Christmas Cactus was won by Kenny Hohenberry. DECEMBER MEETING - The next meeting to be held December 6, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lillie M. Evans Library will be our Christmas Potluck.  We have a lot of excellent cooks in our group, so bring a favorite recipe for members to sample. Guests are always welcome.
