Lillie M. Evans Library - NEW Walk Up Computer Stations
Thanks to the generous donations from the family & friends of Janet Hager, the Lillie M. Evans LIbrary now has two walk up computer stations in the library. These stations are perfect for searching the library's catalog, navigating the library's magazine articles and ebooks, and receiving some assistance from the LME Library staff. There is no sign-up necessary for these computers, but they are for quick searching and resource demonstration. Regular Internet users will continue to checkout computer passes and use one of the 7 sit down computers. The walk up stations are located by the circulation staff so if assistance is needed, the staff is available.

Janet Hager contributed many hours to the library-first as a staff member and then as a volunteer-and we deeply appreciated the dedication and joy she brought with her. She passed away in February 2012, and we miss her greatly. Since Janet spent so much of her time at the library, it seems fitting for her to commemorated in this way. We have many fond memories of Janet and her commitment to the mission of the library. These gifts will continue to represent the service and enthusiasm Janet provided to the Lillie M. Evans Library District.
Lillie M. Evans Library - Gives Thanks!
The Lillie M. Evans Library would like to thanks the following people and businesses for their help and support during our 2012 Summer Reading Program:

Dell Duttlinger, Joe Duttlinger, Ron Routh, Kayla Routh and Kayla Pettit for helping at Storytime, on parade day, and at the pool party.

EB Buildings, Beauford Potter, Kevin Wagenbach and Sub Express for assistance with the parade float.

Midwest Ingredients, Casey's, Polar Bear Ice Cream, Avanti's and Peoria Rivermen for generous contributions toward prizes and incentives for our readers.

Princeville Aquatic Center for another great pool party and the Village of Princeville for general assistance throughout the summer.

We couldn't have had such a successful program without any of you! Thank you so much!!!

Walking Program UPDATE
Princeville Walks 2012 May 29th-July 27th UPDATE
Our walkers have left the continental United States and have journeyed 2868.6 miles to Butte, Alaska! The "lady walkers" have expanded their lead to 1964 miles while the library staff has walked 765.6 miles. Our lone male participant remains at 139 miles and is working hard! Butte is known for its people powered Ferris Wheel and for the landmark "sword in the pole". Since Alaska's landscape is mostly wilderness, these man-made landmarks make it easier to located and give directions.

Final results will be posted at the end of this week.

Recycle Your Ink Cartridges
Friends of the LME Library
The Friends of the Lillie M. Evans Library are now collecting empty inkjet cartridges for recycling. We receive up to $4.00 for each cartridge recycled. Cartridges can be deposited in our collection bin at the Lillie M. Evans Library in Princeville.

Simply place your old cartridge in a plastic sandwich bag and deposit it in our collection bin. Most businesses simply throw their empty cartridges in the garbage so check at work to see if they would donate their would be garbage. The acceptable cartridges are listed below. NOTE:  Epson cartridges are now being accepted for recycling but are NOT paid for. No large laser cartridges are accepted with this program and will not fit through the holes on our collection box.

In addition to raising money for Friends of the Lillie M. Evans Library, recycling inkjet cartridges has a positive impact on the environment. Consider the following: Nearly 1 million inkjets are thrown into our landfills everyday. Less than 5% of the cartridges produced are recycled. It takes 1000 years for the plastic to decompose.

Thanks for assisting our Friends and our Library through this program!  Our next Friends meeting will be Monday, July 9 at 4pm in the library.  Please watch the LME Library website at http://lmelibrary.org  for more details.
