Homeschool & Educator Resources at the LME Library!

Homeschool & Educator Resources @ the LME Library

The Lillie M Evans Library will be hosting a program on
Wednesday, August 28th highlighting homeschool and educator resources.
The program will be held at 10:30am and again at 3:30pm
in the library meeting room

The LME Library recently received a Back to Books grant from the Illinois State Library.  Grant funds have been used to purchase books and DVDs in the non-fiction areas of library & information science, education, languages, sciences, applied sciences, and geography & travel. Materials are appropriate for the adult and young adult age groups.
This is the second in a series of three programs focusing on the materials purchased with this grant.  The first program was an open house highlighting the collection.  The upcoming program on August 28th will introduce our newly created homeschool & educator resources web page.  We will also have a collection of the grant materials and other new materials at the LME Library of interest to homeschooler, parents and educators.
Like most public libraries, the LME Library serves homeschool families and educators in our area.  As part of the grant, we developed a section of our website for our homeschooling parents and students.  It includes links to online resources as well as tips on using the library catalog.  The page also has information about any local groups that focus on homeschooling activities. The homeschool and educator resources page is available through the library's website at http://lmelibrary.org.

The funds from this grant will make it possible for us to better meet the needs of our local community.  Materials were purchased through a Library Services and Technology Act grant administered by the Illinois State Library using funds provided by the U.S Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Electronics Recycling

As of January 1, 2012, the State of Illinois has prohibited many electronics from being placed in the landfills.  This means you must recycle your old electronics instead of placing them at the curb.  This includes televisions, monitors, printers, scanners, computers, keyboards, mice, fax machines, VCRs, DVD players, CD players, video game consoles, cell phones and much more.

Locally, you have options to recycle your electronics including Eagle Recycling, 510 SE Industrial Ave., Galva and Goodwill Industries in Peoria.  For more information:
